Mardi Himal Trek

Mardi Himal Trek

As it is not known by many people, few trekkers make their way to Mardi Himal Base Camp. This trek is splendidly situated at the base of Mardi Himal and the impressive Machhapuchhre peak. The first ascent to the Mardi Himal was in 1961. The first route was through its east flank.

We find most of the things here untouched such as natural vegetation and wildlife. Many things to venture out more than anyone has expected. You can feel the genuine, rich, elegant, unspoiled, immeasurable diversity of nature. So, one could find the decent, simply living people and their culture on its lap. The trail goes through Rhododendron and oak forest around 3,300 m. Mardi Trek is the best to experience the hypnotic glamour of nature.

The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is a recently-opened pristine trail in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trail was walked only by shepherds and cattle before 2012. Trekkers follow the ridge above the Modi Khola river draining Annapurna Base Camp. The trail at first winds through dense rhododendron and maple forests rich in bird life. The clearings in the forests offer magnificent view of the Annapurna range.

The trail soon climbs above the tree line, offering undisturbed view of snow-covered peaks, including the most spectacular Mt. Fishtial. The changing colors of the peaks at sunset and sunrise appear heavenly. Eventually you will be rewarded with a view of Annapurna I (8,091 meters, 10th highest in the world) and other peaks seen from Annapurna base camp.

Day 5

Day 5 is the toughest of all, with an altitude gain of almost 1,000 meters. Mount Fishtial and Mardi Himal appear closer. You will also see Annapurna III and Annapurna I at a distance. On the way back, go further to Badal Danda for the overnight stay.
